Visualization

To use visualization to bring something about in your work takes practice to enable you to focus your mind so that you can see, feel, taste that object. This is important if you are going to use this technique to banish, bind, invoke, evoke or bring about change. In fact, to successfully being fruition to your intent, you need to be able to visualize in detail. There are many other applications but before you decide to get ambitious with visualization, the groundwork needs to be solid first. The following exercises will help to train you mind. Get each one down pat before moving onto the next one. What you will be developing is your senses linking the psyche with physical senses

Exercise 1:

Get yourself comfortable in a quiet area that you wont be disturbed. Relax with eyes closed and let your mind clear so that all is comfortable darkness.

Now see a white circle in front of you. Make it a thicker lined circle. Now change the colour of it from white to blue and then to green and keep changing the colour until you are happy with this. Now change it back to white. Hold that image in your mind. Starting at the twelve o’clock position see the line disappear in a clockwise direction until it reaches the top again when the white line will be drawn again in a clockwise direction. This is harder than it seems to see the line appear rather than a whole circle to appear. Try it and you will see what I mean.

Now make the circle rotate end on end. You can do this horizontally or vertically.

When you are happy with this, we take the 2D circle and make it a 3D orb. Make it a striped orb, as this is easier to visualize as we carry on. Move the orb around seeing the stripes move around as you roll and spin the orb. As you spin the orb around start to change the colours, as each stripe appears one at a time. Feel the solidity of it, the weight of it in your mind as if you were holding it in your hands. Give it a weight such as that of a football or a medicine ball or a tennis ball and feel the change in density as you do so. Once you have practiced this and are happy you can move on to exercise 2.

Exercise 2: Fruit Basket

This exercise will develop not only your sense of sight and touch but also taste and smell. What you will actually be doing is building on prior experience of the objects I am asking you to explore. You will be taking a cognitive memory and giving it physical reality psychically. With practice you will be able to taste, feel, smell and hold an object. This will teach you how to give life to the intent of your visualization.

As before relax and settle your mind. You might want to run through exercise 1 to focus your mind. When you are ready, visualize a piece of fruit or vegetable. For the purpose of this exercise, I will use a tomato. See the tomato and examine the colour and texture and the weight of it. Run your fingers over its skin. Is it firm or soft? Is it rough or smooth? What shade of red is it or is it still not ripe? Turn it around so you can see all of it as you examine it. Now smell the tomato. Is it a fresh tomato like one home grown or organic or is it a supermarket special with very little smell. Now take a bite out of it. Consider what this feels like? Does it explode like a small cherry tomato or does the juice run down your chin? Explore how this feels. Now taste the tomato. Is it full of sweet flavour, sour and unripe or just bland?

When you have finished with the tomato, move onto to a banana. Again hold it in your mental hand exploring the texture and colour and weight. Is it a banana that you would want to eat? I hate brown ripe bananas and would discard this to pick up a greener banana with my mind. Peel back the skin, noting how this feels and the smell of the fruit now you have peeled it and the sound of pulling back each part of the banana skin. Take a bite and savour the taste of the banana and how it feels to eat. Which each bite, focus on smell, taste and feel and sound. That banana is as real as if you were holding it physically in your hand.

Try other foods especially if they are a favourite.

This exercise does take time. It took me a week of daily practice to be able to sense everything about the fruit and actually taste and smell it.

This exercises focuses your mind on physical solid objects that are organic bringing them into the astral level.

Exercise 3: Concepts

Begin as before. Now think of a concept such as questioning, truth, exploring etc and explore what this concept means to you and also the world. Explore it further by applying it to a situation and see how it fits with your concept. Be cold and clear with your analysis of the situation. Try this with different concepts.

Exercise 4: Human Application

By training your mind in this way, you can  reach out and touch or hug a person who is the on other side of the world as if they were sat next to you. This exercise requires the assistance of someone you trust. Ask your companion to write down all they feel and experience. Relax and prepare as before. Now visualize your companion in detail: where they are sitting, how they are positioned. If you are at separate locations then focus on a photo before relaxing and closing your eyes. Picture them in detail in your mind. When you feel that you have them solidly in your mind, reach out and touch them on the shoulder. Strong actions and actions that have strong emotional value are easier to try but at the same time your focus must remain strong on the physical solidity of the person you are trying to touch i.e. if you go off into a daydream then the visualization will not work. You must be able to see yourself touching that person’s shoulder or giving them a bear hug. You could try calling their name firmly and in your mind see them turning their head to see who is calling their name. This one in particular is a good one to practice with as it usually has the result of them asking you what you want or said even though you haven’t said a word out loud. When you have finished practicing this exercise have a look at what your assistant has written down and see how far off the mark they were. Remember though… some people are so earthbound that you could visually bop them on the nose and they wouldn’t notice it. This exercise however, will prepare you for visualizations where you want to bring something about in the physical world.

Advanced Exercises:

Here is a visualization exercise for you to try.

The exercises you have studied so far have been in the present.

What you are now going to try to do is visualize an event that will happen with in a certain time frame, say within a week. Don’t choose something like bumping into Fred who always does so a 5.30 on a Friday. Think of something more unusual like:

bullet

Your mate Fiona who has been down recently will have good news about a deal with in the week.

·    Your mate Jo, who is owed his deposit by the landlord after moving out and now the landlord won’t answer his calls and appears to have no intention on paying up. See the money being put into Jo’s hand by the end of next week and will tell you all about it when you meet at the pub.

·     The store where the book you wanted had sold out and wouldn’t be available for another 3 weeks, rings you to let you know that the order has come in early and is there for you to pick up.

Picture it in detail, the sights, sounds, feelings, smells etc. This is the basis of visualization. Write down what it is you have visualized happening and review it at the end of the time limit you have set. Stick with simple scenarios to start with. I have done it when there has been no work about and I have had a massive bill to pay and no resources. I sat down and thought about the bill and how much it was for and then saw the cheque being written for the exact amount and being paid. Within a few days, I’ve always had that phone call for more work.

Try it and see. As you develop this skill, you will find that the things you need the most and have the most impact on your life will be the things that you can bring about. Your intent will be that more focused and powerful. However, I have never heard of this working on other people’s feelings i.e. your fantasies will not become a reality. Karmic reality? Probably. As with all things magickal, consider what you are trying to achieve and what/who it will effect. Is it for the highest good? Also, remember the bigger the thing you are trying to achieve, the more detailed and intense the visualization will be. One small detail out and the result could be entirely different from what you wanted.

This is the next stage in Visualization where you can use it in your Ritual and Magickal work.

The next step from here is the Qabbalah and I have based it on Lys de Angeles’ work with the seven dimensions, some of the steps I had already achieved before picking up her book so I firmly believe that what she has written about does exist rather than being a biased interpretation but you will have to judge this for yourself. Although you could try this technique, I would suggest that for greater understanding, you should study the Qabbalah first.

Have fun!
