Scrying Mirrors

Scrying mirrors are used to channel the mind for meditation and psychic readings. These are made from black glass or crystal. The best is polished obsidian which is renown for its power of truth. Obsidian being linked to the 1st chakra grounds whilst revealing a situation exactly as it is.

To scry, sit in a darkened or moonlit room with a candle in front of your mirror. Allow your gaze to focus on the reflection of the flame before relaxing your focus into the blackness of the mirror. Alternately, allow the light of the moon to fall on the face of the mirror to focus your gaze on. The lunar cycle can effect what you see: Waxing: positive doings or changes, Waning: banishing or ridding, Full Moon: time of power and exploring the astral plane. The Dark of the Moon tends to either be a time of educational or introverted  study or rest time.

To charge a mirror, leave in the light of the full moon. It is suggested that a scrying mirror should be covered during the day, avoiding sunlight

Crystal Balls

Pure Quartz crystal balls have long been associated with the occult and with fortune telling. It takes a lot of patience to learn to work with a crystal ball. You need to be able to still the mind and be centred to prevent your own thoughts clouding what you see. What you see within is a reflection of the person's aura. As you gaze into the ball allowing your eyes to become unfocused, symbols, shapes and pictures form. Trust what you see and express it. With practice, you see more with the third eye and your physical eyes no longer fight to focus. Crystal balls often have swirls and galaxies within, although many readers prefer a completely clear ball whilst others prefer the swirls and galaxies which allow the eyes to relax focus. Your crystal ball should be rested on Black cloth so to prevent external sources of light reflecting back through from the bottom of the ball.

Again, there are those who consider that a ball used for scrying should be stored in a black velvet bag and exposed to moonlight only.
