Cauldron

Other than broomsticks and warts,
the cauldron is the thing that
most people associate with witches. Everyone knows the lines "Bubble,
bubble, boil up trouble" with the three witches peering over the
steaming cauldron. So what is it really about?
The cauldron is the symbol of the Goddess from which all things
begin, representing the womb. is symbolic of the
element of Water, reincarnation, immortality, and inspiration. Ideally it should
be iron,
resting on three legs, with an opening smaller then the widest
part. However, it's a little difficult to hide a cauldron in the house.
Alternate suggestions are a large bowl, pot or wide-mouthed container. The
traditional
black cast iron cauldron was used for the preparation of potions, meals, and
scrying. Large cauldrons can also function as portable fireplaces.
Cauldrons vary in size but all are used for the same purpose. The cauldron is
often the center of focus in spells and rituals or for making healing oils and concoctions.
Use can also use them in candle magick and are a safe place to leave your
candles burning.
Most esoteric shops on-line or in your area will stock cauldrons in small, medium and large. I got mine from an ironmongers. But be warned: even the smallest ones are heavy!
